THE ACTION OF LOW-FREQUENCY ULTRASOUND ON NOCICEPTIVE SENSITIVITY IN RATS

Ulashchik V.S., Kuklova E.N., Morozova I.L.

Abstract

The present experiment was carried out using rats in which the pain reaction was induced by different methods to estimate the influence of low-frequency ultrasound on nociceptive sensitivity. It has been shown that the nociceptive sensitivity is independent of the mode of generation of ultrasound, its frequency and intensity or the pain model being used. Characteristics of low-frequency ultrasound were detected at which the pain alleviating effect becomes apparent in case of thermal, acute, and tonic pain.

PHY SIOTHERAPY OF VERTEBROGENIC CEREBRAL DYSCIRCULATIONS

Likhachev M.Y., Sidorov V.D.

Abstract

The present study revealed degenerative changes in the cervical spine region of 65 patients presenting with vertebrogenic cerebral dyscirculation in the absence of hemodynamically and/ or morphologically significant lesions in brachiocephalic arteries. At the first stage of the study, 39 patients underwent dry static cervical traction; in addition, they had to wear a soft cervical collar. It was shown that the combined physiotherapeutic treatment was specially efficacious when started at the early stages of degenerative manifestations in the form of cervical vertebral instability. Its efficacy was much lower in the patients with marked anatomical changes in the spinal column. Thereafter, the patients were differentiated based on the results of X-ray studies. Group 2 was comprised of 26 patients most of whom suffered vertebral instability. They received the combined treatment including massage of the collar zone, orthotraction therapy, and wearing the soft collar. The efficacy of this treatment was estimated at 88.5%. In the patients with concomitant hypertension, the arterial

OPTIMIZATION OF THE PROGRAM FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE PATIENTS PRESENTING WITH DYSCIRCULATORY ENCEPHALOPATHY AT THE STAGE OF BALNEOTHERAPEUTIC TREATMENT

Kulishova T.V., Rovenskaya N.G.

Abstract

The present study was designed to estimate the efficacy of the combined treatment of 144 patients presenting with stage I-II dyscirculatory encephalopathy. It was shown that the inclusion of electrical neurostimulation in the treatment program significantly improved the parameters being studied, such as short-term memory, attention, and cognitive abilities as well as cerebral hemodynamics and the psychoemotional state. Taken together, these changes resulted in the improvement of the patients’ quality of life. The analysis of immediate and late results of the treatment has demonstrated the efficacy and desirability of the introduction of neuroadaptive electrical stimulation in the programs of rehabilitative treatment of the patients presenting with dyscirculatory encephalopathy

THE COMBINED TREATMENT OF INTERVERTEBRAL HERNIAS IN THE LUMBOSACRAL SPINE REGION

Petrova N.N., Gerasimenko M.Y.

Abstract

The present study included 63 patients (32 men and 31 women) at the age from 20 to 67 years presenting with pain syndrome and neurologic deficit following the surgical treatment of intervertebral hernias in the lumbosacral spine region. It was shown that the combination of laser therapy and application of diadynamic currents for the management of the patients with this problem in the early postoperative period (after interlaminectomy and posterior interspinous dynamic spondylodesis with the use of a Diam system) reduces the severity of pain and neurological syndrome due to the improved hemodynamics and bioelectrical activity of the muscles with the concurrent decrease of asymmetry between the two extremities.

THE POSSIBILITY OF USING EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE THERAPY FOR THE PURPOSE OF MEDICAL REHABILITATION OF THE PATIENTS PRESENTING WITH VIBRATION DISEASE

Suvorov G.V., Shelekhova A.E.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to estimate the clinical efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) included in the combined treatment of the patients presenting with vibration disease (VD). A total of 92 patients with VD of different severity were available for the examination in 58 of whom traditional therapy was supplemented by a course of ESWT using a Piezo Wave apparatus (Richard Wolf). The efficacy of therapy was estimated based on its influence on the manifestation and dynamics of regression of pain syndrome. The comparative analysis has demonstrated that the inclusion of ESWT in the program of combined treatment of VD significantly improved its efficacy due to the early and stable alleviation of pain in distal arm segments. Two variants of chronic pain syndrome response to the action of shock waves were identified. It is concluded that the great analgesic potential, good tolerability, and persistence of positive outcomes taken together permit to recommend the inclusion of ESWT in the system of rehabilitative treatment of the patients presenting with vibration disease.

THE POSSIBILITY OF USING ANTIBIOTIC AND ENZYME ELECTROPHORESIS FOR THE COMBINED TREATMENT OF CHRONIC HEMATOGENIC OSTEOMYELITIS IN THE CHILDREN

Trunova O.V.

Abstract

This study was designed to examine and treat 40 children presenting with osteomyelitis and fistulas with the use of carbenicillin electrophoresis (group 1: n = 20) or trypsin electrophoresis (group 2: n = 20). The treated tissues surrounding the fistulas exhibited enhanced blood circulation. In 57.1% of the observations, fistula discharge contained pathogenic flora, largely staphylococci, Gram-negative bacteria, and fungi. After the treatment, the incidence of pathogenic microflora in the patients of groups 1 and 2 was reduced to 15% and 10% respectively. It is concluded that the therapeutic modalities applied in both groups of the patients exerted the anti-inflammatory, anti-oedematous, and analgesic action suggesting improvement of hemodynamics in the region of fistula projection.

THE APPLICATION OF BLOOD PHOTOMODIFICATION FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF OZONOTHERAPY DURING THE REHABILITATIVE TREATMENT OF THE PATIENTS PRESENTING WITH CHRONIC BRONCHITIS AND ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION

Khmeleva E.V., Vitkina T.I., Antonyuk M.V.

Abstract

The objective of the present work was to study the immune and metabolic efficacy of ozonotherapy and to estimate the possibility of using photomodification of the blood for the optimization of the rehabilitative treatment of the patients presenting with chronic bronchitis and concurrent arterial hypertension. The study included 78 patients including 51 ones suffering from chronic catarrhal non-obstructive bronchitis at the stage of remission and concurrent hypertensive disease and 27 practically healthy subjects. The very first course of ozonotherapy produced hypolipidemic, fibrinolytic, hypoglycemic, and immunocorrective effects in the majority of the treated patients. However, a group of patients needed additional therapy. To this effect, photomodification of the blood was introduced into the treatment program which promoted correction of the initially altered characteristics.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE COMBINED PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC TREATMENT ON THE FUNCTIONAL RESERVES OF REGULATORY MECHANISMS IN THE ELDERLY PATIENTS PRESENTING WITH METABOLIC AND DYSTROPHIC OSTEOARTHRITIS

Dolganova T.I., Karasev E.A., Karaseva Y.Y., Ir’yanova V.N., Khudyaeva M.A.

Abstract

This analysis of vegetative tension of the functional systems of the body is based on the results of examination of 40 patients at the age of 64-75 years presenting with metabolic and dystrophic osteoarthritis of the knee joints with the duration of the disease averaging 16.0 ± 1.5 years. Two therapeutic regimens were applied to treat the patients. The tension index (TI) was used as an additional criterion for the choice of the extent of therapeutic intervention. It was shown that the maximum-volume physiotherapeutic treatment can be prescribed at a total spectral power (TP) in excess of 1000 ms 2, TI up to 400 arbitrary units, and the calculated standing/supine TI ratio over1.5 arbitrary units. The minimum-volume treatment is indicated when TP is lower than 1000 ms 2, TI is over 400 arbitrary units, and the calculated standing/supine TI ratio below 1.5 arbitrary units. It is concluded that the combination of the decreased tension index and increased total spectral power is the criterion for the adequate response of the patients to the course of physiotherapeutic procedures.

THE POTENTIAL OF PSYCHORELAXATION THERAPY IN THE PATIENTS PRESENTING WITH CHRONIC SALPINGOOPHORITIS AND CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN SYNDROME

Aivazyan T.A., Zaitsev V.P., Yarustovskaya O.V.

Abstract

A modified MMPI questionnaire (SMOL), well-being/activity/ mood test, visual-analogue scale (VAS), and multidimensional personality questionnaire (MPQ) were employed to examine 60 women presenting with chronic salpingoophoritis and chronic pelvic pain syndrome. We compared dynamics of the clinical conditions of 30 patients undergoing psychotherapy in the form of respiratory relaxation training and 30 women given no such psychotherapy. It was shown that the respiratory relaxation training significantly decreased the intensity of painful sensation due to the improved psychological status of the patients that manifested itself as the reduced level of anxiety and tension in conjunction with the enhanced resistance to psychological stress. The psychotherapeutic modalities used in the present study were especially effective in the patients showing high level of anxiety and less efficacious in those characterized by hysterical fits, impulsiveness, and predisposition to fixing attention on their own feelings. It is concluded that the especially high efficacy of the treatment with the application of preformed physical factors can be expected in the patients having no psychopathological manifestations.

THE APPLICATION OF INTERFERENTIAL CURRENTS AND UNDERWATER SHOWER MASSAGE FOR THE CORRECTION OF CLIMACTERIC DISORDERS IN THE WOMEN DURING THE PERIMENOPAUSE

Rubchenkova S.A., Yarustovskaya O.V.

Abstract

A total of 90 women presenting with the typical form of mild and moderately severe climacteric syndrome during menopause were examined and treated in the present work. Effects of interferential current applied transcerebrally were evaluated when used as monotherapy and in combination with underwater shower massage. The influence of both therapeutic modalities on the clinical course of climacteric syndrome, the blood lipid spectrum, and the functional state of the central nervous system and the pituitary-ovary axis was estimated. It was shown that the combined treatment had especially pronounced action in the patients with the neurovegetative form of mild and moderately severe climacteric syndrome during perimenopause if they retained cyclic menstruation-like reactions.

Turova E.A., Konchugova T.V., Balaban E.I., Fadeeva N.I., Golovach A.V., Tenyaeva E.A.

Abstract

A 2% procaine solution was shown to be efficacious when used to normalize characteristics of lipid peroxidation and oxidative protective system in 90 subjects at the age from 30 to 75 years. The procaine solution was administered by means of electrophoresis or used as mesotherapy at a few points in the collar region. The patients treated by galvanization and placebo mesotherapy constituted the control group. It was shown that the administration of the 2% procaine solution improves characteristics of lipid peroxidation and oxidative protective system. This therapy is likely to slow down the ageing processes.

Kir’yanova V.V., Korol’kova T.N., Kirillova A.S., Guzalov P.I.

Abstract

A total of 33 patients were treated with non-coherent narrow-band radiation (wavelength of 650 nm) in the visible range of electromagnetic waves (red colour) to study effect of this therapy on the functional characteristics of the facial skin (moisture, transepidermal loss of water, elasticity) that reflect involutional processes in the skin. Non-coherent narrow-band radiation with a wavelength of 650 nm was shown to improve the functional state of the facial skin as apparent from the positive dynamics of its characteristics studied in the present work.
