Babov K.D., Zolotareva T.A., Nasibullin B.A., Zmievskiy A.V., Babov K.D., Zolotareva T.A., Nasibullin B.A., Zmievsky A.V.

Abstract

The present experimental study included 59 outbred male rats with artificially induced myocardial dystrophy that were given orally a bishofit solution (40 mg/dm3). Bishofit did not cause alterations in the myocardial structure of control animals but changed the ratio of various ATPase activities. Its administration to rats with myocardial dystrophy promoted conservation of ATPases. It is concluded that further investigations are needed to better elucidate the protective action of bishofit during myocardial dystrophy.

Zaripova T.N., Simagaeva N.N., Antipova I.I., Anichkina O.A., Zaripova T.N., Simagaeva N.N., Antipova I.I., Anichkina O.A.

Abstract

The expediency of the application of travelling and alternating magnetic fields to the treatment of bronchial asthma and concomitant pathology of digestive organs was assessed in 92 patients. It was shown that the two fields have unidirectional effects in the form of significant improvement of the clinical picture, enhanced bronchial patency, and reduced requirements of short-acting broncholitics. Both magnetotherapeutic modalities were found to be insufficient for the elimination of the inflammatory process in the organs of respiratory and digestive systems

Chernyshova L.P., Galimova E.S., Chernyshova L.P., Galimova E.S.

Abstract

High effectiveness of laserotherapy has been demonstrated in a study involving 52 patients with bronchial asthma as compared with patients treated by conventional medicamentous therapy. A combination of points for laser irradiation was selected daily on an individual basis depending on the patient's complaints at a given time moment, results of examination, and the presence or absence of concomitant pathology. The efficiency of laserotherapy was confirmed by positive dynamics of clinical and functional characteristics and immune reactions that were significantly different from the analogous parameters in control subjects.

Tabashnikova N.A., Kulishova T.V., Tabashnikova N.A., Kulishova T.V.

Abstract

We observed 157 women of reproductive age allocated to three groups. Patients of the study groups (groups 1 and 2) were given magnetotherapy and dietotherapy respectively in addition to conventional treatment. Control patients (group 3) received traditional treatment alone. The average size of myoma nodes in patients of group 1 decreased within 3 months after the initiation of the study and tended to decrease further during the next 6 months (overall by 16.7%; p < 0.05). No significant reduction of the size of myoma nodes was documented in the two remaining groups. None of the patients in group 1 exhibited the growth of myoma during the 12 month-long follow-up period in contrast to those in two other groups (6.6% of whom had to undergo resection of fast-growing supravaginal uterine fibroids).

Abstract

The present study included 82 patients aged from 20 to 75 years presenting with the diagnosis of limited scleroderma. Sixty two of them were treated by infrared irradiation combined with traditional medicamentous therapy. Patients of the control group received traditional treatment alone. A course of physical therapy brought about clinical improvement in 86% of the patients within 14 days after the initiation of irradiation. Evaluation of the delayed results of physiotherapy showed that it prolonged the period of remission up to 6 months in 46.7% of the treated patients. Remission of similar duration was documented only in 28.5% of the patients given medicamentous therapy alone.

Alyavi S.F., Alyavi S.F.

Abstract

A total of 102 patients presenting with different clinical forms of psoriasis (vulguar, exudative, arthtopathic, and erythrodermic) were treated either by a traditional method or with the help of an improved PUFA therapy with the use of Lacto-FLORA. This preparation was prescribed at a dose of 5 ml in 200 ml of a 0.9% isotonic sodium chloride solution to be injected intravenously every day for 10 days regardless of the time of PUFA-procedures. It is concluded that the use of the described treatment increases clinical efficiency of therapy, decreases the number of PUFa-procedures, and lowers the frequency of adverse events compared with traditional therapeutic modalities.

Up-to-date technologies for radiotherapy

Lutoshkina M.G., Dubovskoy A.V., Lutoshkina M.G., Dubovskoy A.V.

Abstract

Radonotherapy is a radiotherapeutic modality taking advantages of alpha-emission from radon. Activity of this isotope is measured in Becquerels (Bq); the arbitrary unit of activity is Couri (Ci). Specialists distinguish between radon waters of natural and artificial origin. Radon exerts either primary or secondary action on living tissues which accounts for the wide application of radonotherapy for the treatment of a variety of pathological conditions. New methods of radonotherapy have been developed during the last 15-20 years. They permitted to significantly increase the efficiency of its application for the treatment of many diseases. Radon-containing tablets for oral intake, radon-water microenemas, radon-containing suppositories, gelatin capsules filled with radon-enriched vegetable oil, radon-oil concentrate for applications, and "dry" radon baths are currently available for the treatment of various diseases. The latter modality (radon baths) are the most popular and efficacious mode of the medical use of radon sources. Further work for the creation of new methods of radon therapy is of primary importance to ensure more differential approach to its prescription on an individual basis.
