Mechanisms of physiological activity of hydrogen sulphide
Abstract
Modern concepts of the role of hydrogen sulphide in physiological processes at work in the human body are considered. The paper summarizes data on physico-chemical, physiological, metabolic, and immune effects of hydrogen sulphide baths (HSB) and their use in medical practice. Special attention is given to the methods of HSB application, indications and contraindications for HSB treatment.

Evaluation of the efficacy of general magnetotherapy in the combined treatment of elderly subjects with chronic cardiac failure in an outpatient setting
Abstract
The problem of therapy of functional class I-II chronic cardiac failure (FC I-II CCF) in elderly patients remains unresolved. The absence of the desired effect of medicamentous treatment and its frequent side effects dictate the necessity of the search for a safe and efficacious therapeutic modality with which to manage this disease in patients of advanced age. The objective of the present study was to evaluate effects of general magnetotherapy on the clinical course of FC I-II CCF in such patients treated in an outpatient setting. The selected patients presented with FC I- II CCF (NYHA, 1964) that developed from coronary heart disease and/or arterial hypertension. It was shown that inclusion of general magnetotherapy into combined treatment of elderly patients presenting with FC I-II CCF reduces manifestation of early clinical symptoms of the disease, improves parameters of systemic hemodynamics, enhances tolerance of physical exercises, and has beneficial effect on the quality of life.

Laser doppler flowmetry for the assessment of the efficacy of magnetic therapy in patients with chronic venous insufficiency in the lower extremities
Abstract
The use of laser doppler flowmetry made it possible to obtain data on microcirculatory conditions in patients presenting with chronic venous insufficiency of the lower extremities. It was shown that application of combined magnetic fields has much more pronounced positive influence on the microvascular bed of patients with chronic venous insufficiency than alternating fields.

Specific effects of UHF electrical field, acupuncture, and visual pulsed colour therapy on immunological characteristics in patients presenting with hypothalamic pubertal syndrome
Abstract
The present study included 81 patients presenting with hypothalamic pubertal syndrome. It was shown that acupuncture reflexotherapy, visual pulsed colour therapy, and application of an ultrahigh frequency (UHF) electrical field produce positive effect on immunological characteristics of patients presenting with hypothalamic pubertal syndrome.

Efficiency of EHF therapy in patients with pancreatogenic infiltrate
Abstract
This study was designed to compare the outcomes of differential treatment of patients with severe acute pancreatitis complicated by pancreatogenic infiltrate. Part of the patients received combined therapy including treatment with extreme high frequency (EHF) electromagnetic radiation and the remaining ones were given traditional therapy. Analysis of the data obtained showed that early EHF therapy promotes activation of non-specific Garkavi-Kvakina-Ukolova adaptive reactions, causes two-fold reduction in the frequency of pyodestructive complications, and permits to decrease the number of conventional surgical interventions.

Transcerebral amplipulse magnetotherapy in the combined treatment of patients with secondary dysmenorrhea
Abstract
The objective of the present study was to evaluate efficiency of transcerebral amplipulse magnetotherapy in combination with intake of iodine-bromine water during the treatment of patients with secondary dysmenorrhea. A total of 80 women presenting with this disorder were examined. The efficiency of the treatment was assessed from clinical symptom dynamics and results of functional tests. It was shown that the above combined treatment has positive effect on the psycho-emotional sphere of patients with secondary dysmenorrhea. Moreover, it produces well-apparent correction of hormonal and immune status of these women, has vasotropic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory action.

Increasing the quality of sanatoria and health resorts help for patients with toxics-chemical bronchitis by up-to-date technologies of regenerative medicine in the Federal medical biological agency.
Abstract
The trial was conducted for 120 patients with chronic toxic-chemical bronchitis in order to study the effects of vacuum interference, haloinhalation and peloidotherapy on activity of inflammatory process, functional stage of bronchi-lung system and physiological and emotional status of patients.
It was concluded that innovative technologies of rehabilitation medicine in resort environment increase the efficiency of resort treatment and decreases the treatment terms, which is the basis for better quality of health care in treatment and prophylaxis.

Post-injury infrared laser therapy of a skeletal muscle (experimental study)
Abstract
In this study, an injured skeletal muscle was subjected to pulsed infrared laser radiation of low intensity and large duration at a dose of 3.6 J/sq. cm. Evaluation of the injured muscle condition using biochemical, histological, morphometric, and cytogenetic methods demonstrated that infrared laser radiation exerted a stronger stimulatory action on metabolism and regeneration of muscular tissue preliminarily treated with X-ray radiation at a dose of 20 Gy than on the control muscle. Laser irradiation promoted restoration of bone marrow cells but failed to normalize the activity of thymic lymphocytes.

Rehabilitation of patients following surgical treatment of coronary heart disease
Abstract
This paper presents analysis of published data concerning surgical treatment of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and their subsequent rehabilitation. Pathogenesis of CHD, types of revascularization surgery, and methods of rehabilitation of such patients including remedial gymnastics used in this country are considered.
