Abstract
The basic state of a suspension of chiral ferroparticles based on a nematic liquid crystal is studied when the finite coupling between the impurity and liquid crystal subsystems is considered. An additional contribution to the free energy functional due to the chiral shape of impurity particles, which describes the formation of spontaneous macroscopic helicity of the orientational structure of a nematic liquid crystal, is proposed.
